Was so uncomfortable the majority of the book, but reading Jude's character development got me through.
Locke's character was so obviously an asshole from the start, it would have been nice to actually believe that he was ever into her.
The development of Cardan and Jude was also a highlight.
I hated Cardan so much and was so worried that they'd try to do a redemption arch on him, I was so glad that the way the author makes Jude and Cardan work together is by making her horrible to him too. A refreshing scene where she becomes a morally grey protagonist.

DNF’ed around 15%. But with Jude acting like a stubborn idiot despite knowing it could get her seriously injured and Cardan not having any redeemable qualities, I gave up. Jude seemed much more concerned about if her sister slept with someone and ogling Cerdsn than anything. It wasn’t “enemies to lovers,” to me. Cardan and his buddies were just sociopathic abusers to me.

You need quite a few chapters to get into it (the narrator is quite immature) but once the plot is unfolding you ll get hooked. Idk why exactly but I feel like the vibes are similar to the ones of Percy Jackson if you ve read that as a teen.

The world-building is interesting. However, I really didn’t enjoy this book overall because of the way abuse is handled. I don’t care how physically attractive someone is: there is nothing sexy about abuse. And trauma is neither sexy nor an excuse for abuse.
