It’s been a while since I’ve read a fantasy and I’ve missed it.

This book is written really well and beautifully. It wasn’t a quick read for me nor was it fast-paced. However the world building and story was done really well and kept me intrigued.

This first one felt like a lot of setup and I’m really excited to see where this story goes.

Also Alexus is everything

Easy read, interesting magic system. Despite the intensity of many scenes and faster pace, found myself needing breaks often. Might just be because there was so much happening quickly.
Cons: average writing, romance felt rushed/sudden, inconsistent in person is suddenly very good at magic/fighting

I don't get why Raina has been written as such as stupid character but I can't stand her. The writing doesn't help, so stilted and unnatural. Alexus' speech and thoughts sound more like an essay than a person speaking.
