Oof-eye opening and terrifying. What else are people hiding from everyday citizens?!

I think the subject matter was incredibly interesting, especially given that I live in Colorado and knew very little about Rocky Flats. I did feel the author droned on a bit and sometimes I really had to fight get through her writing which was a bit boring.

This book artfully weaves memoir, investigative journalism, and science writing. It's a must-read for anyone living in Colorado or interested in environmental justice.

This was a book club selection. I liked it a lot better than I expected to. I thought there were places that were repetetive, but I certainly learned a lot. I also know now that there are places in Colorado that I will avoid EVER going to!

Whoa. A perfect melding of family and governmental secrecy. I highly recommend this book.

This book was in theory half memoir, half historical account of a nuclear weapons plant. My problem was that the memoir felt extremely lacking (very bare bones, and nothing very unique about the family’s story) and the historical account of the plant was extremely dry - it felt like reading legal briefs rather than being structured as a story.

I just feel like this concept could have been done so much better because every time I did stop to think about what I was reading, it made me sick!! Humans inventing nuclear weapons has got to be one of the worst unforced errors in our species history…… giving ourselves cancer from barely regulated plants churning out a continuous replenishment of weapons that either we never use, or that kill us all. Wtffffffffff
