One of the most remarkable books I have read in a long time. Zevin does a masterful job of exploring what it means to be a friend and the depths of platonic love over the landscape of early video games.

I loved this book.  It was a fascinating blend of character and plot.  I'm not a gamer, but I found the creation of the games so interesting.

I couldn't do it. Was excited to read a book about friendship with an aromantic/asexual mc and WOW I DID NOT MEAN A TOXIC RELATIONSHIP OMG. I stopped reading after the handcuffing incident. I don't want to read a book where everyone treats each other like crap.

I'll watch the movie, but I'm not putting myself through this depressing beautiful writing just to feel shit about everything.

This book was really beautifully written, but it is a HEAVY read. The way these characters are written is so brutally honest and genuine, I often had take breaks to separate my own emotions from that of the characters...which honestly wasn't a bad thing. This book hit really close to home, but it was also very reflective. I think it tackled the issues of racism, ableism, and toxic relationships really elegantly. That, and the backdrop of video game development was such a lovely and creative setting for these coming-of-age stories.

A beautifully written, heavy, saddening, yet inspiring story. A book about love, but not romantic love, indeed!

I found myself avoiding reading in general because I didn’t want to read this book, so I finally decided to return it to the library, read the summary of the ending online, and move on with my life. The characters were unlikeable and uncommunicative in a way that felt very forced. I also didn’t like the way she handled heavy topics (see content warnings) in such a throwaway manner. This was overhyped in my opinion, but I know many loved it.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is such an odd, esoteric book. I almost feel like I’m slightly too young to truly appreciate all the video game references, but I was intrigued nonetheless. Reading this book strangely felt like playing a game, but one that isn’t really won or lost.

My main gripe: Sam and Sadie sometimes felt like they were so tied to their Fatal Flaws that it was exhausting to watch them continue to mess things up endlessly. Also
I felt a huge reading slump after Marx got shot… I wasn’t expecting more trauma after everything that Sam already went through!
