I get the criticism that its only enjoyable if ur a gamer or make games, but that feels like a stupid approach lol like yeah i didnt get every  minor reference to game design but i enjoyed the book and i enjoyed the description of the games (even though i literally never game) and i enjoyed the characters and also i cried so

really loved it. refereshing to see media about video games presented as positive, beautiful, and artistic rather than brainrotting. interactions between characters are complicated but often lovely to read through. really presents the idea that love is a very complicated, not always romantic, emotion, and despite negativity and darkness love does feel very overwhelmingly present in the lives of these people and the vibe of the book as a whole.
i also really appreciate that sam and sadie never got together romantically, because i think it makes far more sense for them. what sadie said near the end of the book about why they never got together really made sense to me. i did however think her relationship with marx felt a bit forced and set up so that he could die as a vessel for drama and character development? she seemed entirely disinterest ed in him when she first knew him and he liked her, yes she was in a weird situationship with dov at the time but i think even despite that it felt a little odd. tbh that's my only critique though
