An emotional roller coaster watching two young people go from children to functioning adults.

I can only like this book for the non-stereotypic couple duo of Sam and Saide even though they are hinting as a pair. I can’t enjoy the story as it’s vague, author’s style of using hard word choices inbetween and sudden plot turning to different story. The book overall felt like I’m studying for my school.

I really enjoyed the first 70% of the book. I ultimately appreciate the ending, but have mixed feelings on the last part of the story - there are some inconsistencies in character development, and one particular thread is a bit trope-y and lazily done. But I guess that’s life as a whole.

for a non gamer to be absolutely immersed into a book about gamers and gaming is a feat that Gabrielle Zevin accomplished specularly! a story that portrays intense love, without being a romance, demonstrates the value of companionship and reflects on the varying depths of human connection. beautiful storytelling, miscommunication trope was frustrating at times and characters emotionally reasoning was at times difficult to understand.
