I missed something in the story so it didn’t completely hang together but it was a good story with not too much tension.
3 for the lady Emily part. 2 for the tansy part. Did I mention I don't like dual narratives?

Didn’t really have enough in either storyline to justify being a whole book. The killer was glaringly obvious with how cagey and saccharine they were. The kid antics were annoying. The past timeline had nothing to do with the present murder. What’s weird is the murder mystery DOES have a second piece that could have filled out the main story, but instead it’s a forgotten clue that gets hastily resolved in the last chapter.
Generally, I don’t mind alternating timelines, but this time it was a bit offputting for some reason. The 16th century timeline seemed clunker, and was always a cue that I could step away and go do something else.

Just ok. I continue to enjoy this series (given that I'm 17 books in!) but this one felt a little rushed due to short chapters that alternated timelines. The older timeline felt irrelevant and undeveloped.
