Great idea, intriguing and engaging plot, but poorly executed with ridiculous characterisation throughout.

This book has been whispering my name for months now! Once I grabbed, I couldn't put it down.

Great plot and cool characters to work the plot! There's really nothing else I can say that won't give anything away.

So ladies and gentlemen, make yourselves at home, have a drink and enjoy the book!

Overall I really enjoyed this. I had my suspicions over how it would end and I was kind of right. Unfortunately I didn’t really find the big twists all that surprising. There was a few creepy moments which added to the overall feel. This was an interesting and fast paced book.

“But maybe, in times of immense distress, people’s truest selves came out.”

'This Lie Will Kill You,' follows the story of five teens who are invited to an isolated mansion, expecting to compete in a contest to win $50,000. As the night progresses, each of them realise that they all took part in a murder that happened a year ago.

It wasn't an absolute disaster, but there was just so much potential, so many good ideas and opportunities for character development - they were just not executed well enough. The characters, though vastly different, were quite stereotypical - 'the smart one, the pretty one, the popular one, the dumb one, the lonely one.'

The plot itself was more amusing than it was gripping - I found most of it extremely far-fetched, and it all felt so unrealistic. I also think the plot was quite predictable and about halfway through I found it quite easy to spot who had the most involvement in the murder – I don’t know if this was intentional, but if it wasn’t, it was fairly easy to spot.

I quite enjoyed reading about characters who are forced to face their demons and deal with the harsh truth. It was really a very good idea…it just wasn’t what I hoped it would be.
