Very fun--my favorite lulu book yet. It took me a little while to transition to the new illustrator but I loved the book and now love the new illustrator too.

First a confession -- I am a pushover for anything Judith Viorst writes...she can write in the voice of a small boy, in the voice of an academic, and in the voice of snarky women of a certain age...but this!

She has created a snotty little girl who knows how to manipulate her parents anytime she wants. Lulu is really not very nice at all...and when her parent DO stand up to their daughter and go on a vacation...gasp...without her, she declares war on the babysitter, one strange and severe Sonia Sofia Solinsky, and it's hilarious.

Occasionally Viorst speaks, as narrator, directly to her readers, explaining, for instance, why she has not explained the title of her book...and usually she's right there in Lulu's head with all her nasty plans to get rid of the evil Ms Solinsky.

Lulu has never lost. Ever. So, who will win?

I realized that this is the third in the Lulu series...I have some reading to do.

The third Lulu book focuses on Lulu’s babysitter, who is actually a spy. When Lulu acts up and tries to drive the babysitter away, she agrees to teach Lulu how to be a spy.

I detest bratty characters and Lulu is right on the edge of being one. That being said this was a fun twist on the babysitter storyline, and I quite enjoyed it.

I must admit, I miss Lane Smith's illustrations.

Lulu is a smart kid who likes things her way. An ordinary babysitter would never work for Lulu. In comes Triple S and Lulu has met her match.
