“Remember Me” by Sophie Kinsella is about a woman who wakes up in the hospital with retrograde amnesia. She doesn’t remember the past three years, and she finds that she has become a woman she doesn’t recognize (thinner, straighter hair, and mean). She has lost all of her friends, her sweet little sister has turned into a juvenile delinquent, and she has snagged a rich, perfect, and obsessive-compulsive husband. She has also had an affair with her husband’s colleague, an architect. She then has to figure out what happened that made her changed so drastically, win back her friends, take back her career, and learn the difference between “perfect” and “perfect for her.”

I really liked it. The initial plot (girl wakes up in the hospital with amnesia to find that she has turned into a bitch) has been done before (can you say, Samantha Who?). But the way it is presented is completely original and funny.

It’s the minor details and scenes that really bring it to life. For example, the scene where Lexi (our protagonist) accidentally kills a $600 fish then hides it in a handbag because she can’t figure out how to flush the “smart” toilet.

What also gives this book originality is the bizarre but very believable supporting characters (a teenage con-artist sister and a whippet obsessed mother).
The ending is pretty predictable, and it is a very light read (I finished it in less than two days). It is written in first person and present tense, which places the reader right in the story. The protagonist is lovable and easy to relate to. I also appreciated that the two men in the love triangle were believable and not too stereotypical (but I don’t want to give too much away).

Overall, it was a good, light read and very enjoyable. There were many times I laughed out loud.

This book was absolutely amazing!! I read it in less than 24 hours and I just couldn't put it down. I was hooked from the first page and never wanted to stop reading. As a matter of fact, I got so sucked into the book...I was reading for about 3 straight hours and when I took a break I was honestly confused because I was so into the amnesia story I felt like it was actually having to me. What an awesome book! I'd love to see it made into a movie.

Another fantastic book from Sophie :) you really get to know the characters and the reason for her drastic change of appearance and attitude is believable. A wonderful book :)

Honestly so disappointed. Such an interesting potential premise but squandered due to a lack of plot, boring characters and lack of charm.
