eu teria gostado muito desse livro há uns 3, 4 anos atrás...hoje eu fico meio nhé, parece repetição
Unfortunately, Nikita Gill's poetry is not my cup of tea. I'm not so sure what I expected but I felt that her poems were quickly written, using too many words and images all at once and I was lost in the process. Her poetry is heavily quotedon social media and to me, it seemed that it was written for just that purpose. I couldn't find any distinctive voice in her verse whatsoever and I literally got lost in translation.
I’m barely getting into poetry so I came into this with an open mind! Some of them I felt were very “instagram” like poems but there are lots of impactful ones that really made me think. I like how it was very strong women driven!
This is full of fire! A must read for anyone needing a pep-talk about self love or wanting to feel empowered! These poems are stunning and illustrate the true power of womanhood.
After reading this poetry collection all I want to do is buy more copies to give to everyone I know.
This collection was moving and powerful and so important. There wasn't a single poem in this entire collection that I didn't adore and now that I've finished it I could easily reread it and get from it so much more. I honestly cannot recommend this collection highly enough, and rest assured I will be gifting this book to so many of my friends and family.

I'm not sure what to rate this as I enjoyed it immensely but it's no Fierce Fairytales. You can see the blueprints for that work of Gill's in these poems and it's beautiful to see the difference between Wild Embers and FF.
Somewhat of a side note: I have read Atticus aloud to the Boyfriend and he began mocking it right away. I read the beginning of Wild Embers to him and when I had paused to absorb a poem he said "I get why you love her poetry. This is nice."

It is a well-established fact that i have a tumultuous relationship with poetry. Some collections have struck a chord with my so deeply I’ve wept, others have left me completely baffled and unmoved. This book? This book did both, and a little more.
While i loved the re-written fairy tales, recasting the damsels in distress as heroes who fight for themselves, i baulked with distaste at equating womanhood to being in possession of a womb and being able to create life. I am much more than my reproductive system, and my worth and meaning will not be reduced to that alone.
There were far more poems i loved than poems i didn’t in this book. If there had just been a selection that didn’t quite hit my own emotions, I’d have given this book four stars. However, the handful of poems that I actually found disagreeable and crass weigh heavier than the pages they are printed on, and I cannot overlook them.
A slightly longer review can be read at my blog: Marvel at Words.
