An incredible collection of poems. It started off strong with Gill's interests in the universe seeping through beautifully. Her interpretations on Fairytales and goddesses are empowering and validating.
However by the end of the collection I felt like I was reading the same poems I just read 100 pages previous, which wasn't enticing enough for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was a bit repetitious at times, but there wasn't a poem that I didn't like. I also liked how it was broken up into sections surrounding the same category of metaphors used. The themes discussed in a majority of the poems were mostly the same, but that just meant it was a good fit for being in the same collection. There were some that could have been omitted, though, because of the similarities with other poems earlier in this collection. I definitely cried while reading a couple of the poems; one of which was in public, so I felt the need to take a break, so that I could cry in peace (a good cry, no worries). I would recommend this to people wanting to get into poetry and are passionate about women empowerment, as well as those who are in the process of their self-love journey (though I suppose we all are, no matter what). Therefore, I will most likely look into more of her poetry works.

I enjoyed this book much more than ones similar to it. It felt more like poems about empowerment than poems about over coming self loathing or a painful past like the other books. The same themes were a little annoying (I get it. We are stars and oceans.) and some of the poems felt exactly the same but just worded differently. I'm just being picky... as a whole it was great. :)

it's rare to like every single poem in a collection. I enjoyed the first half of them and liked that she included "lessons". Its well written, very few poems feel like filler or out of place.
Wild Embers is an incredible collection of poems and prose focused on the topics of love, heartbreak, forgiveness, mental illness, feminism, Hope, healing, trauma, pain, domestic violence, abuse, and, most importantly, self care. Nikita Gill has created a must read for all women fighting the battles of their daily lives, especially those who may have forgotten that they are courageous and powerful, a force to be reckoned with.
