I had high hopes for this book (maybe because of all the hype around it), but truthfully, didn't love it. Does it check the boxes for a light vacation/beach read? Yes. But, there are so many other better books in this genre that I would choose before this one.
First, the title threw me off - "People We Meet on Vacation" - I thought there would be more of a thread or storyline to the actual people Poppy and Alex met on their travels. Evidently, it was a reference to the different people they were on each vacation (individually and together), but again, not what I was expecting.
It was too repetitive with respect to (the same) ups and downs in their relationship and friendship. I liked the structure of writing going back and forth from past to present, their current holiday to prior vacations, although at times it was confusing, and felt unnecessarily drawn out. Also, the build up of what happened on the vacation two years ago was totally overrated.
Next, the characters were not my favourite. I liked Alex but could not relate to Poppy at all. It wasn't a consistent dislike throughout the book, but her character never really grew on me.
Overall, I don't recommend this book. I've heard great things about Emily Henry's other novels, so reading this won't stop me from picking up another one, but I would save your time and disappointment on this book.

Before reading this book I’ve noticed that there were a LOT of different reviews so I just thought, why not see it for myself? Well let me tell you… I LOVED it! It only took me 5 days to finish this book. Some sentences really got to me. Poppy and Alex are ahh.. made for each other! I wish someone would think of me the way Alex did for Poppy. I loved it and I can’t wait to see the show of it with Tom Blyth (help!)
Hate the friends to lovers trope but this book was okay.
I wanted to know what happened and even though I thought the dual timeline thing was nice at times, other times I got frustrated because no man.
Like , just say what you want to say and save yourself the years of not knowing or the "could have been"
I don't have the patience for this type of romance story lol.

I loved this book so much! So glad that I finally read it. It took me quite some time to get to it, mainly because I kind of expected it to not live up to my expectations because of all the hype. But oh man, not only did it live up to the expectation, it even exceeded it. Such a fun read.
