The second Summer I Turned Pretty didn’t land for me the way the first one did. Not much really happens. It’s really not a romance novel at all, more a story about grief and how teens stumble through it. I thought that part was handled well: the kids’ choices following Susannah’s death are messy but believable.

Some Conrad/Belly flashbacks were genuinely sweet, but overall it still felt like a nothing book. The so-called love triangle between Belly and the two Fisher boys barely exists until the last chapter, which honestly worked better for me since I'm not big on love triangles.

Pure nostalgic re read

Book would’ve been 5 pages long if they’d just told Laurel what was up from the start.

getting Jeremiah’s POV made me truly dislike him, he was fine in the first book.

“I honestly liked It’s Not Summer Without You way more than the show 📚✨. The emotions hit harder, the characters felt more real, and I was hooked the whole time 💕. Such a messy, beautiful summer story that had me turning pages nonstop 🌊☀️.”
