A mixed bag of essays on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series that just tips into enjoyable. I most enjoyed the comparison of the various gods as parents, the discussion of whether you'd want to be one of Artemsis's hunters and the essay critiquing Riordan's portrayals of characters with disabilities. The essays seem to be written to a variety of audiences - some are written at a child's
level while others to adults. A consistent approach, and a deeper discussion from some of the child-oriented essays would have been an improvement. I wouldn't recommend unless you really need something to fill your time before the next Percy Jackson book.

There were some essays that were really interesting... But others were just really long and I kept thinking to myself "How many more pages!?"

DNF at around 50%. Not what I thought it was. It's just essays from other authors about the Percy Jackson series. Some good thoughts and advice for authors, but not any actual stories (at least to the point I stopped).

Read through Overdrive.

I have to say that I really didn't like this book at all. It took me a little bit to read. I kept skipping parts because they weren't interesting at all. My favorite part was the glossary at the end, explaining all the greek gods, heroes and etc... Basically this book is other authors writing pieces about the Percy Jackson series. It really wasn't interesting at all only a couple were okay.
I don't suggest reading this, but if you want to try reading it you can go right ahead. lol =]

Kesti kauan saada tää luettua...

En oikeesti lukenut 185-sivulta eteenpäin loppuun koska se oli pelkkää kreikkalaisten tarinoiden tiivistystä.

I love Rick Riordan's writing style and characterization. I have always enjoyed mythology and he does a great job of bring any and all mytholgy to life in a fresh and new way. I find the characters to be engaging and to feel really real. His characters feel fresh and diverse without feeling like he makes them diverse just to have diversity. He does not belabor the point of their diversity it just is a fact of who they are and yet anyone who reads his books can feel included in representation. I love how he weaves the mythology into modern times so you feel like you are learning something as you are being entertained.

I read this a while back but I briefly enjoyed it. The book has a few short stories by Rick giving background information about several demigods and their histories. But mostly its concepts created by several esteemed readers who create scenarios with other demigods and monsters. Might read it again some time in the future but it currently sits on my bookshelf next to my other Rick Riordan books.

MEH. I love Percy and I knew this wasn't going to be anything like his narrated stories, but I still had high hopes...Alas, this was interesting, but I think I couldn't get into this because i adore Rick Riordan's writing style, and hearing it explained through other critically acclaimed authors made me feel uncomfortable, especially since they were talking about our beloved Percy and his adventures. But if you are a hardcore fan,(like muhself) it's hard not to enjoy this book. Personally to be more specific I would give it a 2.7 out of 5. I would talk specifics but hello this is a spoiler free review. Anyway, it's interesting, but I cant control the amount of times i put this book down to take a break because my favorite characters where being talked about by other people. Read it if ya wish, but personally I could have lived without this book.
