Reread Jan 28-30 2024 3.5/5 stars

I was excited to read this book and hoped it would be better than my House of Earth and Blood reread. I guess I can say it was better since my rating hasn't changed since my first read. I was really into it in the beginning up to like 20-30%. After that it got a little too long for me at times. It was still fun but I wasn't as invested until the ending. Obviously the ending is epic, even knowing what happens, I had fun rereading it.

I think the biggest reason why this series can never be a 5 stars for me (for the first two books at least) is that I really don't care for the main characters aka Bryce and Hunt. Their romance was a lot more prevalent in this book but I was not at all invested in them apart from being happy that they were happy. Ruhn and
SpoilerLidia's
romance was so much better! I loved seeing how their relationship developed and how it ended. I skimmed through pretty much all smut scenes of Bryce and Hunt but could obviously not skip the one scene we got for Night and Day. My favorite characters are Ruhn,
SpoilerLidia
, Ithan and Cormac
Spoiler(I refuse to believe he's dead until we see a body. He has to live.)
. I can't wait to see how Ithan and Baxian will come into play in the next book!

Another thing I don't like about this series is the usage of Danika as a reason to every plot point and the way the characters react to discovering Danika's involvement. I was mentally prepared for this so it wasn't as annoying as the first time I read this, but I still think there could've been a better way.

SpoilerHello, Bryce Quinlan. My name is Rhysand
will never not make me scream.

Okay this one did not make me sob like the last one.

Instead it was an OMG, I'm not sure how I feel about that ending.
