I enjoyed this wayy more than the first one (the version before the re-editing) mainly because of the exploration of the alternative society, the muddy, dark, maffia, halloween customy mood of London. The worldbuilding goes into more detail than the first one and the writing flows way nicer. I liked following Page's adventures and her struggle for power and seeing how ambiguous Jaxons character was.
A little minus point bc the other characters weren't that three dimensional, and i didn't care for the romance (however tiny part it had in the story)

5/5 stars.
Gut wrenching finish, as usual. I am in shock, in awe, in complete bewilderment.
Shannon is a master at storytelling. I’ll comeback and say more when I can get my thoughts together as I’m still reeling from the shock and suspense that ending had.

after reading the first book very quickly for my own standards, i jumped straight into reading this one (second book of the series) and i couldn't focus at all. the plot felt a lot slower, especially the romantic subplot, and it made me skip paragraphs and pages.
i wanna return to this once i know im in the right mood and ready to appreciate the worldbuilding that the author clearly put time and effort into!

I thought this was a great sequel to The Bone Season. Picks up where it leaves off, Paige wrestles with who she is and what she's going to do about the events of Bone Season. It starts a bit slow, but the last 200-300 pages its incredibly hard to put down.
