I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. I loved everything about it!
Tropes: Forbidden, mom's friend, age gap, forced proximity, boss/employee, ANGST
Reese is officially 18 years old and is on her way to finally reunite with her mother after her release from jail. Once she arrives, her mom tells her that she has to head out on a business trip leaving Reese to stay in the basement she is renting from a friend. A friend who is 10 years older than Reese and living upstairs.
I definitely agree that I think this is one you should go into blind. This book was forbiddennnn. He's 10 years older than her, her mom's friend, AND her boss. Reese was bought up in a VERY Christian household, and after meeting Fisher and feeling an immediate attraction to him, she struggles with her faith. This book really was a journey. It was so much more than Fisher and Reese's love story. We really get to stand by and watch Reese battle with what she was taught to believe and who she really is. This book is a rollercoaster and may have you cringing at some parts and ripping your hair out at others. This one is deff for the angsty girls out there.

Reese is a 18 year old Christian whose decided to take a gap year between high school and college to spend the year with her mom who was just released from prison after 5 years. After being reunited with her mom she is then left with Fisher, the hot older guy her mom is renting out the basement they are staying in from. She is immediately attracted to Fisher, and for the first time in her life she must really think about how her beliefs fit into her new found feelings.
I loved the way Fisher challenged her to think for herself and to make her see the different views of the world! but not only did he challenge her, she challenges him especially in book 2! I related so much to Reese and her feelings/thoughts! I loved loved loved this duet! Highly Recommend!

Okay, I really enjoyed this! It’s the first book in a duet, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next. 😍
Great banter, great tension, trying to stay away from each other, sneaking around. A VERY inexperienced and religious FMC afraid to sin and a very experienced MMC. Oh and the fact that he’s her mom’s friend, her landlord AND her boss. All of these things made me eat this up! It’s some of my favorite tropes and I like Jewel’s writing in general. And the narrator did a good job with it too.
It’s my third book by Jewel E. Ann and I hope to read many more!
Tropes and stuff:
🔨Age gap
✏️Forced proximity
🔨Landlord + boss MMC
✏️Christian + virgin FMC
🔨Sneaking around
🌶️Open door spice
