Ok so this story was just WOW!!

I was lucky enough to received an audio code from Valentine PR and let me tell you I couldn't stop listening to this story. The level of angst and drama is all the way high, I just loved it. The Narrators did a fantastic job bringing bringing this story to life.

The hate/love relationship between Daniel and Nicole had its on orbit which started at an early age. Both of them had dangerous secrets and an unhealthy obsession against each other. You see glimpses of the past and the night that drastically changed everything for them.

After so many years Nicole finds herself in the clutches of Daniel, desperately trying to survive and find a solution to her present problems. Daniel makes her life miserable in every way , he is bossy, arrogant and a total first class a-hole. But the intensity between them is consuming and Nicole finds herself once again in his hands unable to stop her feelings.

I love how this story develops and how everything is put in to place. This story was fill with so many shocking and unpredictable moments that I honestly didn't see coming. But the conclusion was beautiful and Daniel totally redeemed himself.

2.5★ I wish writers stopped using women’s traumas as a plot device so that the male main characters will regret their past asshole-ish behaviors and seek validation for forgiveness. I’m sure this book would’ve been pretty fine without that assault part.

I was one of those people that didn't like Nicole back when I ran Cruel King. But that was because we only saw the bitch side of her that Astrid and Levi saw. Finally getting to see her story and to see how things really happened the night of the fire made me look at Nicole in a different light.

Nicole has become one of my favorite female main characters in a book ever. She has been through so much in her life and has grown so much since her days back in high school. And just seeing the way she cares about Jay makes her even better in my eyes.

With Daniel, I have always liked him. But reading this showed so much more to him and I loved seeing it. I would have never imagined he was dealing with some of the things that he was and loved that the only person who ever noticed was Nicole.

There were moments in this book when I was crying so hard. It was just so incredibly emotional to me. I couldn't put it down. Definitely my fave in the Empire series. It makes me want to put everything down and re-read the Royal Elite series asap.

Great book! I pulled an all nighter with it. Really hard to put the thing down. Rina Kent always writes about people we love to hate.
