I love the royalty romance trope with my entire being so this book was right up my alley! It has some very spicy scenes that could be too much and I had to skip a few pages but loved this book overall!

It follows the same tropes and storytelling method as the previous book, as expected, but this time I found the relationship more believable (classic princess-bodyguard romance). However, there were a couple of absurdly far-fetched scenes that made me cringe -again. I guessed the plot twist halfway after several not-so-subtle hints, which took away the weight of the female protagonist's struggle to change things, rendering her efforts redundant. All to have a perfect happy ever after in which everything resolves itself cleanly. Not a fan of that. I was hoping the story would use a major shady antagonist move better or expand on that plot point, but it served no purpose and was dealt with at the very end like an afterthought despite the huge repercussions it could have had if used cunningly.
Looking past the characteristic red flags and clichés of the genre, I enjoyed it because it's fast-paced and gripping, albeit repetitive and predictable.
