Hard to rate this one, it is so different than what I usually read...I guess I'd say 3.5 stars? It was a good Christmas time read - very light, didn't take a lot of thought and was kind of in the Christmas mode. Probably wouldn't pick up another one but it passed the time.

This had almost no mystery/plot. You constantly knew everything and the characters did not. Boring and frustrating.

The only thing that saved it from being 1 star were the funny twins and the heartwarming elderly couple.

So technically this was part of one "book" that I got out from the library which also included "Deck The Halls." But they are two different books, just in one volume. So there's that.

This one was much shorter than the first. I liked it. I would have given it 3.75 starts if I could -- because I didn't like it as much as Deck the Halls. But it was a fun read. It's good writing. It's engaging writing that keeps me in the story (I love the way they use details which draw me in but don't overwhelm me) and while a mystery is on the lighter side.

Reading these two books brought joy to the start of my holiday season!

The Christmas Thief is a story about the after effects of conmen, and how people who have been conned are left feeling restless and unhappy.

Opal won the lottery, and then was conned out of her $3 million by Packy Noonan. He gets caught and sent to jail for 12 years, but Opal doesn't get her money back. Packey gets out, and immediatley heads for the diamonds he hid in a tree, that is shortly going to be cut down and sent to the Rockerfeller Centre to be the christmas tree there.

Alvirah and Regan Reilly are on the case!
