i enjoyed the concept of this book: a collection of short stories about the dating experiences of women in nigeria. while the stories were somewhat interesting explorations about the damaging ways patriarchy and misogyny shows up in heterosexual relationships, i couldn’t help but be put off by how dramatic and repetitive they were. at certain moments, i felt like i was reading a tyler perry original lol. still a quick and fun read, though.

Loved this book! The title of the book caught my attention, but I didn't know what to expect. This is a great collection of stories - is this really how the majority of men in Lagos are? Some parts were a little racy for my taste but I just glossed over those. Wish the writer had included some translations for some of the Nigerian words such as omugwo, umunna, ewa, etc.

Skipping the last story because CW:SA. Otherwise, an okay read to pass the time.

Nearly All the Men in Lagos Are Mad” is an intriguing collection of short stories that captures the complexities of love, relationships, and societal norms in Lagos with raw intensity. Each story is graphic and unapologetically honest, delving into the flaws and imperfections of its characters in a way that feels both shocking and deeply relatable.

The author does a fantastic job of weaving these stories together with fluidity. Despite being a collection of individual narratives, the transitions are seamless, making the reading experience immersive rather than disjointed. The portrayal of Lagos as a vibrant yet challenging backdrop adds another layer of authenticity to the book.

What stood out to me was how flawed yet realistic the characters are. Each story is a mix of heartbreak, humour, and unexpected twists, all of which kept me engaged and often left me stunned. The final chapter, in particular, was intense and emotionally charged, making it one of the most impactful parts of the book. I appreciated the inclusion of a trigger warning, as it allowed me to approach the heavier topics with the necessary mindset.

Beyond the entertainment value, the book is also a learning experience. It sheds light on societal issues while offering lessons through its vivid storytelling. If you enjoy stories that are bold, thought-provoking, and unflinchingly honest, this book is a must-read.

This is the book that got me out of my reading slump. I absolutely loved this book made up of 12 short stories of women’s dating experiences in Lagos. It’s HILARIOUS and reading it felt just like getting tea from a girlfriend on madness they’ve encountered. If you want to read something juicy, this is the book for you because the DRAMAAAAAAAA AND CHAOS
