I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
4.5, rounded up. Even though I don't live in Nigeria and have little experience with Nigerian culture, this collection felt relatable to me and is hilarious to boot. (I'm a sucker for revenge stories with dumb men, though.)

The book is packaged with all sorts of red flags for men, written in first and second person, 12 short stories in total. I did not finish the book. It was full of sad stories back to back no positive endings till where I got to. I also found the explicit scenes too much and kind of forced. Maybe because I wasn't bonding and rooting for the couples.
[2.6 stars. Can't really do the halves on here.]
I've had this book sitting in my house since late 2021, decided to give it a read.
Not only did this somewhat expose me to life and culture of Lagos - although it doesn't encompass the entirety since it's a short story collection of women's experiences with men in Lagos - it also served as a reminder of how women have to deal with narcissistic, selfish, self-centered men who most often than not only seek sex. Women deserve better treatment, to be respected and seen as an equal. Not an object.
I would've enjoyed more variety of short stories rather than the repetitive sex-filled short stories, but I suppose it served its purpose of how these men continuously did not respect these women who loved them - until they didn't. I'm glad the women depicted in these short stories at least stood their ground and realized they shouldn't have to settle for a man who treated them as an object, viewed them as lesser than an equal or a human being.
Also, the first short story started off with such a visceral image. I was stunned, but it was effective to pull in the reader.
