After two books as sub-characters, Trevor and Isabel finally get their own novel, and I'm not disappointed.

At the end of the last book, Isabel bailed on Trevor without a word, leaving him waiting for her in a hotel room. It's been five months since that event and Iz has managed to avoid him the entire time. When she finally goes to meet him, the team compound gets attacked and she joins up with him and the rest to figure out who was responsible, because that person may also be responsible for Trevor's boss, Jim Morgan, going missing.

The entire book is a mystery trying to figure out who attacked the compound, why and who the target was. They also have to figure out what connection the person who ordered the attack has with Jim while trying to locate Jim, who might just be dead.

The characters have a lot on their plate and having to deal the complications of their personal relationship just makes things harder. It's also a delicate balance for the author because you want to properly develop the romantic relationship but you also don't want slight the gravity of the situation that everyone is in. Elle Kennedy managed both aspects very well and I think it helped that we already knew Trevor and Iz from the previous two books. We knew about how they worked and about their problems. This book was simply to conclude their story, for better or for worse. It was a smart move on the author's part.

I really liked this book, probably my favourite so far (or maybe tied to [b:Midnight Rescue|12368900|Midnight Rescue (Killer Instincts, #1)|Elle Kennedy|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1324661720s/12368900.jpg|17349172]). I loved both Trevor and Iz and was very eager to read their book because I really wanted them to have the ending they deserved. And because I just couldn't stand not knowing where they would go. I'm very happy with how their story was handled. They were really good together.

The mystery of the attack and of Jim ended in a way I didn't see coming at all. Hell, the book ended in way I didn't see coming at all. But seriously, it was a lot of fun trying to work out why the compound was attacked when Jim wasn't even there. Maybe the target wasn't Jim. But then who was? And where the hell did Jim go? It was all very interesting. Kept me hooked.

The novel was well written like the last two. The little pacing issue I had with [b:Midnight Alias|15808436|Midnight Alias (Killer Instincts, #2)|Elle Kennedy|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1362267409s/15808436.jpg|21310614] wasn't present in this book. I throughly enjoyed the read and I highly recommend giving it, and the rest of the series, a shot. While I myself will be moving to the next book.

Midnight Games is the third book in the Killer Instinct series. Each book follows a different couple and there’s definitely a story arc for each book that is completely satisfying – however, there are story lines that cover several books and weave through the series so you’ll want to be sure to read/listen in order, starting with Midnight Rescue.

Yes! Ever since Isabel & Trevor were introduced in book 1, I have been looking forward to this couple’s story. Kennedy does a great job of keeping us interested in their progression during Luke’s book, Midnight Alias – and I absolutely think they both needed that time. Midnight Games is one of my favorites of the series – not just because of the main couple, but the continued building of back stories for the secondary characters and the action/suspense element.

This book starts with several surprises, a missing team member, and someone completely unexpected taking control. Meanwhile, Trevor is trying to break through Isabel’s high emotional walls, respect her expertise and capability as an operative, and working to discover who the mysterious foe is.

While the biggest tension is between Jim & Noelle, I’m completely on board with the next book being about the sniping Ethan & Juliet in Midnight Pursuits.

Allyson Ryan is solid in narrating this whole series. I love her performance and can’t say enough good things about it. She keeps voices, accents, & mannerisms consistent throughout and it’s absolutely binge worthy.

We have been watching as Trevor’s interest in Isabel has brought him back to life and Isabel’s interest has brought her back from edge of the abyss that life has led her to. One of Nicole chameleons, Isabel excels at undercover work. She hides behind her various personas and Trevor insists on breaking through to the real Isabel. For a woman who is cool under fire this scares her as nothing else does. Trevor wasn't able to save his fiancé how can he risk his heart once more with a woman who purposely puts herself in harms way?
This is romantic suspense at its best. Action adventure, and romance this series just keeps getting better with each installment. This reads like a modern day episode of Mission Impossible. I can’t wait for the next installment.

Midnight Games is another book in Elle Kennedy’s suspense series about Trevor and Isabel. Although it can be read as a standalone I would highly recommend reading the other books because you will have a better understanding of the backstory and how they work, especially Trevor’s story. Isabel is like a chameleon, and used to hiding her identity, something that brings her directly in Trevor’s sights when he needs help with his current case.

All the women of this series have a take no prisoners mentality, and Isabel is no difference. She is one of the best at her job and makes no apology for it, because she’s so used to hiding her true personality. Trevor lost his wife in the first book of the series, and his journey to another relationship is both heartbreaking and exhilarating to watch. He is able to see the real Isabel, and she is able to help him heal from his tragedy, making them a perfect match for each other. This was one of my favorite books of the series, and I look forward to the reading the rest of them. This book was reviewed by a member of the review staff at Cocktails and Books. I loved this installment in the series! Having read many of these books out of order, I can tell you that this is a very important book in the series. You get Trevor and Isabel’s story, learn a tiny bit more about D, see the start of fireworks between Ethan and Juliet, plus more Morgan and Noelle. What more can you ask for?
