I read this book because it is one of my mom's favourites.
It was a quick read and I can see why it would be appealing to a lot of people. It is told in a vey simple fashion and is heartwarming and relatable.
However, I found it to be pretty boring and the super accessible nature of the writing made me feel like it was underwhelming at times. No beautiful, flowery prose for me in this one.
The author wrote things very bluntly, which made things like death and war quite powerful.
This wasn't my cup of tea, but I want to continue to read books that connect with the people I care about. This book was definitely something I knew my mom would love and reminded me of another book that I had recommended to her in the past that she loved as well.
