3.5 ! super short book but with my inconsistent reading, took a little longer than it should have. such an enjoyable read and it's dedication made it feel extra special. it's fascinating that everyone has their own beliefs on what happens after death, and this book has definitely affected my outlook on the afterlife and will influence the way i live my life now ! curious to see who my 5 people are going to be on my way out, and what lessons i'm to learn later.

my only gripe about the book, and it might just be user error cause my memory is horrible, is that there were several names/characters i couldn't remember being mentioned like mickey (maybe he was the only one actually LOL).

but anyway, i love love and i love life.

Wow, this is a perfect book that every single person needs to read. It is such a beautiful telling of not only death and what comes after, but also what our lives mean, what our births mean. There are so many things that stuck with me and I will definitely be reading other works of Mitch Albom’s, but I’ll leave it with this beautiful piece of writing of his, “Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from the inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves.”
emotional hopeful sad

A very important read for me, it reminds us all that everyone is special.

so good. i finished the last 3/4 of it in one sitting and cried twice. did such a good job of connecting characters and the meaning behind each story

interconnection, sacrifice, forgiveness, love transcending death, and purpose were all beautifully written

super short book, easy read, could definitely see anyone in a reading slump get back into it with this book

Life-altering. It is a testament to the writing just how important the messages were and the powerful reminder that everything you do is connected. Well worth a read.

I’ve put off adding a review to ‘The Five People You Meet in Heaven’ as once I finished it, I tend to reflect and then know how I feel. But about a month or so later, I’m still conflicted. I’m unsure if it’s cause I didn’t sit down with a physical copy of this book, opting instead for an audiobook while I walked to and from work but something just didn’t connect for me.
The story itself is a beautiful reflective one which when starting, Eddie is a walled off character who is so set in his ways and after passing away; goes on a journey which leads the reader through his life, what made him the man we first meet and allows him to reflect on his and others impact while alive. Eddie is a character that I personally learned to love, seeing he wasn’t a cold man but rather one who had experienced so much love and yet so much hurt that he learned to protect himself. This book isn’t one that you just read, it’s one you map against your own life and reflect on the relationship (present & past) you have and how ultimately they impact you. I think this will be due a re-read at some point to fully understand and appreciate the text. For now, I have to give this 3.5 stars.
