This is the most fucked up thing I have ever read. Sex, violence, perversions, TRUE EVIL, yup, this book is filled with all of that.

I guess one of the reasons why I started to read Preacher was to see how it compared with the TV series. I wanted to give AMC's new show a run. However, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg do not have the leeway of adapting much of the content that is in Garth Ennis's crazy world to television. The show is ok to me, but the graphic novel is so much more. What can you really say about it? Psycho, dark, hilarious, brutal, disgusting, and excellent are some of the first things that come to mind when describing this. You have to read it to believe it. Volume 1 gives us a nice backstory of what's to come. I'm certain that I will be enjoying the ride.
overall, i liked it. the story line is interesting and the characters are amusing. however, it's stupidly violent. i'm not impressed with that.
I know there was a fairly interesting story in there somewhere, but I couldn't really find it through all the violence and general grossness. And it seems like it was all thrown in there for shock value. Just not my thing at all, and I wish I would have gone with my first instinct to bail about a quarter of the way in.
Ennis has some serious issues. Quite an out-there story. Compelling & disturbing. Like a train wreck.
It seems for a comic to get praise, it has to be pretty crazy. While nowhere near as messed up as The Invisibles, nor as well executed as The Sandman, this is a solid start to a very interesting story.
Gross and engrossing. Intense. I read it fast partly because of how great it is and partly because I don't want my daughters (3 and 5) to accidentally see any of the violence depicted inside.
I'm not a big comic person, but I will definitely check out the next one!
