I’ve been really enjoying the Preacher show so I thought I’d give the comics a shot! I don’t usually read too many western comics as the art isn’t appealing to me but I did enjoy this a lot! The visuals were alright, not my style, but the writing is quick and witty, and the plot is different than the show so I didn’t know what to expect. I can see how this became popular back in the 90s through its unusual subversion of tropes and interesting plot goals. As a bonus I managed to get this second hand off Amazon for real cheap which was a pleasant surprise .
Very 80s misogynistic male bullshit took me out of the narrative. Did not age well.

It’s funny, outrageous, outrageously funny, violent, outrageously violent… the art and writing is excellent. Loved every panel of every page. I don’t know which of the main characters I liked most… though possibly Cassidy just shades it. Just.

I was nicely surprised where this book was going with the Genesis story arc. A really great and original concept although the plots near the end of this collection where a little obvious. Nonetheless, a riveting read if not a bit on the too gory/violent side at times. Looking forward to getting into the rest of this series.
I didn't know what to expect from Preacher and what I got was certainly not expected. The way things unfolded confused me initially as much happens and then is later explained and the gore was excessive and the artwork wasn't my favorite. I also felt that the middle chapters were weak and didn't hold my complete interest the way the beginning and ending did. Criticism aside, preacher was very unique and something worth reading.
