This is a cute, light romance with a fake dating trope. There is enough substance to make it interesting and give some deeper meaning to the romance. A good beach read. (Pretty spicy)

The author uses a lot of ableist language. She is especially fond of using the word, crazy. She also uses deranged, insane, mad, and psycho. She references both alcohol and drugs. One of the main characters suffers from panic attacks, which the author treats relatively well, despite her overuse of stigmatizing language.

I liked this more than the first book "The Spanish Love Deception". It is still a bit to cringey, and the writing is not totally for me.

This book was so sweet. Lucas is like the perfect man, I think I fell in love with him while reading this too. Elena Armas does so well with intertwining the serious stuff with lighthearted humor. I wish we learned a little bit more about Olly and his situation, it seemed like it was going to be more but then kinda just faded away. I will also add that this book is medium paced but the romance is a slooooow burn. Very low angst though, which is a plus!

I liked this better than the first one and connected better with the characters overall, but this series still doesn’t wow me. The story, romance and characterisation were all solid if not spectacular. I felt the ending was rushed and we got very little of the “what comes next”. There were several loose ends - I really would have liked to have heard more about the subplot with the FMC’s brother. I did enjoy the use of romance tropes as a way for the both the main romance and the FMC’s writing career to progress.
