The plot was cute enough, but the writing wasn't great, the pace felt slow (or the book was just too long) and the audiobook narration annoyed me, especially the male narrator.

*screams in cinnamon roll*

I said Elena Armas wrote the perfect office romance. Now here she is having written the perfect cinnamon roll, slow burn, fake dating romance.

Lucas... oh Lucas. A cinnamon roll if ever I read one. So soft on Rosie and gentle with her that my heart was soaring with every single interaction. They were so unbelievably freaking precious. I just can't. I am in love with them both.

I completely lost awareness that this was unfolding over a short period of time because EA managed to put together them getting to know each other in such an efficient (that word sounds so boring but ykwim šŸ¤£) and without anything left out or any rushing through the story.

Slow burns always get me. The tension and anticipation is just *chef's kiss*. This has spice,  but I wouldn't class it as a spicy book, but the sexual tension was off the charts regardless šŸ‘€šŸ‘€šŸ‘€ I was SO invested in two fictional humans that it bordered on unhealthy šŸ¤£

I'm mortified it took me so long to getting round to reading this, but it was 10/10 worth it!!!

I really loved this at first, Luca and Rosie had such a good dynamic, but the fake-dating kinda ruined it for me. I'm usually ALWAYS here for that but it really changed their dynamic and just couldn't keep me interested anymore. Really had to work through those last hours

THIS BOOK PUNCHED ME IN DA THROATTTT oh my God like my heart was beginning to collapse on myself for the last third of the book because it was just too much. Rosie and Lucas deserve everything in the world, Iā€™m sorry this book got the first one beat. And just Lucas in general is perfect, he reminds me so much of Prince Naveen. I love a charmer

i might have liked this one better than TSLD?!?!?! and i LOVED that book and reread it like immediately after i finished it back in 2021. i absolutely ate this one up. i truly loved both rosie and lucas' characters. like they were so genuine, so likeable, and a little too relatable... i really enjoyed the plot of them faking dates/parts of a relationship to help her with her book - as a sucker for the fake relationship trope, i devoured that part. i think they were both very HOT as well - the shower scene?!!?!? ELENA, I AM IN LOVE.

i wish we had just a *little* more burn as part of the slow burn, but alas i survived on what we got. also, i wish we had gotten more insight on lucas' past, like a hint more, but overall a fantastic read and i cannot wait to read the long game!!!
