I was not familiar with any of Michelle Lindo-Rice's previous works but the description of The Bookshop Sisterhood was one that I found intriguing. I worked for four years in a bookstore so I love anything related to bookstores.
Four best friends who decide to open a bookstore together. But before they can open the bookstore, each of the four friends has major life-changing events.
This could be the case of not all books are for all readers. I just found that each of the four main characters all had such major issues in their lives and it was a downer. I found it hard to relate to any of the characters and finally cut my losses by waving the white flag. Their lack of business planning in opening the bookstore was one thing I could not get past.

I did not care for this book very much. The writing was not to my taste, as I felt the author tried too hard to over- accentuate every movement. Nobody ever "walked", they clickety-clacked or thundered or tip-toed or skittered. I appreciate that to some degree, but this was almost annoying. Idk, just not the book for me. Ymmv.

This was not what I was expecting going into it. It has a lot of drama. These four women go through everything during the span of this book. It was less bookshop focused and more of a drama about these four best friends. Entertaining, but I wanted more of the bookshop!

I wanted to like this book, but it was underwhelming in character development, plot, and pacing. The story felt rushed and underdeveloped. With four characters, each with their own complex story, it really needed to be a much longer book or a series.

I always enjoy books about librarians, libraries, and bookstore. I am often adding books referenced in the story to my book list. 📖
As I read this book, I found myself identifying with the characters, whether it was their flaws or the love for books and friendship. The author didn't hesitate to write about tough situations, all while bringing you back to real love and relationships. We will all face adversity, however it is how we deal with it. Will we fold or retreat? Or will we lean into those friendships and relationships that will get us through.
