El's breezy storytelling did not do this last book any favors. it needed heftier world-building now that they're outside the Scholomance!

I knew going into this that it wouldn't be as great as the other books now that the dark academia magic school setting went out the window and we are now out in the real world. Usually at this point in a series, I just DNF because I only care about the school. But despite this setting/plot being drastically different than the first two books, I was still veryyyy invested in this story and could not put the book down.
The action was a little drawn out and I wanted to skim over it a bit, but I loved the truth about Orion and the truth about the creation of the enclaves. I loved El and her relationships and the moral dilemma she had to go through. Plus really enjoyed the ending. Would even love to see this story continue!

This was a pretty good series. There was not a lot of predictability. The characters, especially the main girl were likeable. There was a bit of humour as well.
