How do you deal with life when things keep being thrown at you from all sides. Well, Whitney is going through it! This book really didn't stop moving, in a good way. It made you want to keep reading. I love friend dynamics in books and I especially loved this one. Her friends were THERE! It was fun and quirky and made me wish I was a descendant of aliens with secret powers I never knew I had, lol. We get to see some people from book 1, but the story definitely focuses on the new cast of personalities.

This book is unhinged, witty and hilarious. I love Whitney's cat Maverick.

Jessica Cage has done it again! I Accidentally Hooked Up With A Vampire delivers everything I love in a paranormal romance, an engaging plot, compelling characters, and representation that feels both refreshing and necessary.

First, let me just say, Whitney is THAT girl. A strong, confident, plus-size Black woman taking charge of her own story? We love to see it! It’s rare to find main characters like Whitney in the fantasy genre, and Jessica Cage not only gives us one, but she’s made sure plus-size Black women shine in this series twice now. The way Whitney’s confidence radiates throughout the story is beautiful, and the bond she shares with her best friends, Lena and Jackie, makes this book even more special. Their friendship is everything, Lena, the mom of the group, always looking out for everyone, and Jackie, the fierce protector who will throw hands if necessary. Their love and loyalty to Whitney felt so real and made their dynamic one of my favorite parts of the book.

Whitney is an art dealer who thought she was on the verge of a well-earned promotion, only for everything to take a sharp turn in the opposite direction. Instead of stepping into the next phase of her career, she found herself unemployed—right after signing the mortgage on her brand-new place. Talk about the worst timing! Her entire world flipped upside down, and navigating that uncertainty only made her journey even more compelling.

Now, let’s talk about Mr. Domino. Whew. This vampire right here? Tall, dark, handsome, and smooth as hell. But what makes him even better is his patience, kindness, and wit—he knows exactly who he is, and he owns it. His chemistry with Whitney was off the charts, and the way he adored her made my heart melt. And his playful, love-hate relationship with Jackie? Top-tier entertainment. It actually reminded me a little of Bonnie and Damon’s dynamic from The Vampire Diaries—constantly at odds but begrudgingly respecting each other.

One thing I truly appreciated was the inclusion of trigger warnings. It’s such a hilarious and straightforward touch, making sure readers are prepared for this book being about vampires. Vampire Things Happen. Spicy Vampire Things Happen. And let’s not forget one of the most important things, there was no booty juice in this book! If you read the first book, you'll understand.

Jessica Cage has created a world that not only centers plus-size Black women but also feels incredibly relatable. I laughed, I swooned, and I got completely wrapped up in the passion and drama of it all. The way she weaves past characters into this book is seamless, and I’m already hoping we’ll see Whitney, Lena, and Jackie again in the next book, just like we got a little reunion with Rayna!

A huge thank you to Jessica Cage for continuing to give us stories that celebrate and uplift plus-size Black women in fantasy. Representation like this matters, and I can’t wait to see what's in store for the next book in the series.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout, thank you so much, thoroughly enjoyed this book!
