I wasn’t sure about reading this because I’ve drifted away from YA and there was a lot of hype surrounding these books. That being said, I did have fun reading this and I definitely laughed at moments, especially at the twilight book scene. The plot of this was solid but it also felt rather obvious at times. Additionally, I know they’re teenagers but I was tired of the Harry styles references and the “sexy af” and just use of “af” after the first few chapters. I enjoyed the conversations around loss and seeing how different people handle their grief and the ending was definitely a surprise. I wish though that there were more bits of foreshadowing throughout the book to give a better indication of where we were going with the plot. Definitely a fun read but not something that I’d call a great book. I will continue on since this seems to be helping with my reading slump but I can’t say I’m dying to find out what happens next.

Not a fan of the mc or her personality, and the story was dragging. Also, way too many unnecessary F-bombs for my liking.

Look. Going into this YA vampire romance, I sort of knew what to expect, and it delivered. Light on worldbuilding and complex characters, heavy on angst and instalove, it's exactly what it says on the tin. I do wish that the story had taken place over a little bit more time than a week though, because it makes everyone in this story come across as having mental issues from how quickly everyone flip flops around with their actions and motivations.
Grace and Jaxon are pretty cute together though (in that YA instalove sort of way) and the humour is pretty good, even if the YA writing style did get to me a bit. You know exactly what you're going to get going in, and it delivers, not great, not bad, just shitty YA vampire romance.

Starts like a twilight redo but the series actually has a surprising amount of depth and improves after book one.
