Oh my goodness I adore Aimee. She is such a strong girl! The fact that she decided to go and find her own answers when the people she needed help from the most refused to help her... She took her life into her hands and found that she could live despite her disability.

Her disorder was really interesting to read about. I loved this sort of sci-fi infusion into this otherwise real world setting. I think the author also handled common issues around disabilities in a society that does not have accomodations or resources for said disability very well.

AND JUNHO AND AIMEE ARE SO CUTE DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED I WAS SCREAMING AT SOME OF THEIR MOMENTS STOP IT RIGHT NOW. Adorable.

The exploration of grief and complicated family dynamics was so so good as well. AND THAT PLOT TWIST HAD ME IN TEARS I CANNOT.

So good. Just pick it up. It's so so so good on every point.

i would have enjoyed more depth from certain elements of this novel — particularly the side characters, like the hapjeong station ghost! — but there were no elements i didn't like. i was engrossed the whole time, and i felt that the fast pace suited aimee's journey and self-expression. i found the treatment of the fictional chronic illness very true-feeling and the family relationships moving. it also made me hungry.

nie spodziewałam się, że tak bardzo mi się to spodoba

The overall concept is interesting, and I empathize with Aimee and her relationship with her father, but that’s all there is. The other characters lack depth in personality and relationship with Aimee. The romance was unnecessary and added nothing to the story - I didn’t believe it, and that was the biggest issue.

I didn’t like the way Suk handled building up the backstory and the big “reveal”. It was underwhelming and felt rushed.

4.5/5 stars! Wow! I laughed, I cried, and I was fascinated by Aimee’s journey. BRB, gonna go actually buy a copy of this instead of borrowing it from the library because I need to make sure I own it forever. Sarah Suk, please write a sequel, I’m begging!
