I enjoyed this quite a lot. I was initially quite unsure, as the first few chapters basically just felt exactly like Dune, but it did become its own thing quite quickly. I enjoyed the prose and the worldbuilding (while a lot was done before in Dune) was really atmospheric. Hadrian was quite a vanilla character but he was fine, and I did like the diary entry style.
I can see the potential of the story but my god, it does leave it till the very last to actually get to what feels like the main plot.
