no notes, I would just love more of this. More fashion styles, more ways of expressing more cultures, more depth.

While I love the magazine format of this, I just wish it had a bit more depth to it. This is a fantastic resource for someone looking into more diverse people to follow (especially when it comes to the makeup YouTube listed in the back, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I followed a couple!) and it'll be a great tool in the future. There just seems to be something off about the cosplay section to me, I would've loved to see more diverse cosplayers because there are some amazing BIPOC ones out there that I know of that could have contributed a lot of great information.

Style, Fashion, and Beauty are all words with inherent appeal - having a book that has short patches of readable text, written by someone whose work normally appears in Elle, Flare, or Vogue, gives it greater authenticity up-front.
Allaire, writing from the point of view of someone who, growing up on a reservation in northern Ontario, didn't ever see himself or his culture reflected in any media, whether print or on screen. In this book he takes the opportunity to show different ways cultures are reflected.
There are some great things about this book, such as its copious photographs, that complement and add to the text. Its subject matter is diverse and inclusive, talking about men wearing heels, how people create cosplay characters to break stereotypes, and fashions that cross and celebrate different cultures. Readers will be introduced to models, artists, and stylists that will allow them how special, and beautiful, it is to wear a hijab, have natural hair, and other ways in which people have come to show who they are, and where they are from.

Thanks for the Galley, Winter Institute! This book is uplifting, empowering, technicolor beauty. Maybe a little on the short side, but still good.

Beautiful and quick read about the importance of style in showcasing our identities. Some of this is pretty basic things I already knew, but this is for a young adult audience and the way the book shows and tells stories is beautiful.

I loved hearing from a a wide variety of people, both like me and those that hold identities that I do not.

Short and easy read, I’d recommend to anyone who is into fashion or is trying to build confidence in rocking your own style and sense of self. Very easy to pick up and put back down, and would estimate it’d take most people around an hour to read.
