Enjoyed the mix of historical fact/explanations and personal stories. Read this while visiting Berlin and it really made everything come to life even more.
I was fascinated by the story of the tunnel and the very devoted diggers. There is mention of a film team and an awardwinning documentary ("The tunnel" from 1962), managed to find it online and watched after reading, making not only the places, but also the people very real.

This is my absolute favorite type of book. A super compelling story that keeps me turning the pages AND teaches me a ton about a topic of interest. And it's a true story! Having visited Berlin over a decade ago and having seen some of the sights mentioned in the book made it all the more enjoyable. If you have any interest at all in the Berlin Wall I think you would love this book.
