I think this is definitely more intriguing than you would suspect. I’m intrigued how this will shape up in my overall opinions of her work

This is my 3rd Austen novel, and unfortunately, the one I’ve enjoyed the least. I think I may have a better appreciation for it after learning more about Austen’s life, and seeing how her experiences were reflected in her writing, so I’ll try again one day. I wasn’t very hooked by the story until the last hour or two when it started coming together.
Erivo has a lovely voice, but I found her narration a bit hard to follow. It wasn’t very fluid, and I wish she would’ve done more distinct character voices. It was hard to tell what was dialogue vs narration, and who was speaking. If I were physically reading, I think this would have been different, but alas.
