Unfortunately I found the pacing too slow to finish this book. I think if the chapters had been shortened it could have helped break it up/give a sense of accomplishment that would have helped propel me through the book a bit.

So, it was a DNF for me around page 130.

Somewhere between 3-4 stars? I don’t know.

If anyone needs me for the next few days I'll be wondering what in the actual... Did I just finish. I'm both confused and happy. And want to know if there is any follow up.. I hope so.

3.5 out of 5 stars: Although I felt tricked reading this book and it is not on the author, but the library for how it was categorized. This is a dystopian sci fi that grips and wrenched my heart out. I don't like dsystopian books because it makes me worry or stress about a world I don't want to think about. While there are exceptions to this rule and this one may be one if I am not reading it in such a blue mood.

The slow burn of this book definitely was worth it. Tears were shed. I didn’t expect it to take so long to finish but the story was beautiful and I was completely invested and interested almost the whole time. I love it so much. I need another immediately. I need closure lol.

It was against my better judgement to read this, I’ve never felt a great love for Shea Earnshaw’s books. But there is always this immensely atmospheric quality to them that is so masterful I keep HOPING that I’m going to fall in love with one of them. The synopses get me every time, something so intriguing that I think will really grip me, but alas, once again I am disappointed. My own fault though probably.

Probably 3.5 stars, I would have rated it higher if the ending would have had more closure. Does leave it open for a potential sequel.
