A strong follow-up to Election, taking into consideration many of the nuances of the changing landscape of the modern day. Tracy Flick's evolution between books is believable and well-characterized and the new cast of characters brings fresh perspective to Perrotta's original novel. However, the ending felt out of place in comparison to the rest of the novel; while not unrealistic, it almost felt a bit like a cop-out in terms of Flick's arc and a strange detour into a topic not otherwise addressed in the novel.
Moderate: Racism, Alcoholism, Bullying, Abortion, Addiction, Adult/minor relationship, and Domestic abuse
Minor: Cancer and Deadnaming
