The world and the plot is more interesting than the barely existent romance, and I love the book for it. And the plot and world is beyond excellent too, so there's no minus there.

I really enjoyed this book. Beyond the "urban fantasy" feel it was fairly typical Anne Bishop with excellent world building, amusing characters, mischievous animals, and an innocent heroine who's at once vulnerable and powerful.

Some of the antagonist's motivations for doing things weren't quite believable, and a bit more background about cassandra sangue would have been nice, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the story.

All in all a good read that I had trouble putting down.
