make this a show, a movie, a youtube mini series, inject it into my veins, serve it me for every meal, break it down to its core components and create a symphony like the world has never seen.

or, you know, i’ll just take the second book.

this was absolute perfection and i’m reeling within a single minute of having finished it. prepared for the most aching bout of fictional withdrawal

(pride month read 2/30)

Well. I made the mistake of taking this book to work with me today and lets just say I took a very extra long lunch break... because after the first 100 or so pages I legit couldn't put this down.

Sideways is my favourite type of character, hard as nails on the outside, snarky and dark and takes no shit, but on the inside she's also a soft bean who just wants some friends to accept and understand her.

When I saw the premise I didnt expect the group of 'popular girls' at school to be so amazing if I'm honest, I guess I expected the typical mean girl bully types, and I'm sooo glad that wasn't the case.

Easily become one of my all time faves and I'm so excited for the next in the series, the ending was so different than I expected so I can only imagine the amazing twists to come!!!

This was a very pleasant surprise! I picked this up on an ebook sale and forgot about again, until I decided to read all my unreads. I DEVOURED this book! And I can’t wait to read the second one!

Only small con is I don’t like books that just drop you right down into the story so that I feel like I am struggling to catch up. That got resolved within the first couple chapters, so I do not hold that against it.

Sideways is a witch, a lesbian and a loner with a disturbing past. Jing, Yates and Daisy are the queens of the school. When they pay Sideways 40 bucks to do some magic at a party, she doesn't think twice. But the magic works a little too well, and some very creepy things start happening. Somehow this powerful clique becomes an even more powerful coven of four, ready to wreak magical havoc on anyone who tries to threaten their sisterhood...

If you like atmospheric, character-driven stories about magic, witches and girl gangs who stick together (no matter what), then you'll inhale this book. The ending left me ready to throw my book across the room and then I found out it was a trilogy, thank God!

A fun and twisty coming-of-age story for gay witches; I liked it less than Engelsfors and other bitter sapphic YA in its ouvre, but it was still a gripping and compelling read. Can't wait for the sequel.

I'm not a big reader of YA, but THIS was a thrilling exception.  This book dares to pose the question, what if the Mean Girls who stereotypically make a plaything of outcasts in other media actually genuinely had some witchy weirdo's back in a ride-or-die kind of way?  And the answer is a group of morally grey menaces with such ferocious affection for each other you can't help but adore them all.  This book throws you into the thick of things from page one and leaves you desperately wanting more.  I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

This book was addictive! The voice is strong and unique and the story is spooky, queer, and a new twist on teen girl drama. The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is that sometimes the dialogue is exposition heavy and doesn’t sound authentic to teenage characters.
