I adored the plot, the people in it, and the creepy element. I was hooked from the start and it felt like an episode. Reading teenage Mulder was impossible for me to resist, and The X-Files is still one of my favorite shows. He's just what you would expect, of course. The author did a fantastic job of sticking to the show's canon, and Mulder's story was really entertaining.

I loved this glimpse into Fox Mulder's adolescence, but was disappointed at the inconclusive ending.

A solid prequel story to the X-files tv-show. This one follows Mulder as he uncovers a possible serial killer preying on young children in ways reminiscent of his sister's abduction. It has some really nice character moments and some solid action and suspense. The ending was a bit rushed, but I'm willing to forgive that because the journey there was rock solid. There's also a fun connection to the other X-files prequel book.

Recommended for fans of the tv-show.

I know it's ya, but this could have been so much better. I liked it but wanted to love it.

Fantastic.

I watched The X-Files with my dad religiously growing up, so when I heard about Origins, I knew I needed them in my life. Reading about young Mulder and how he learned that there are no coincidences and why he should trust now one made my inner conspiracy theorist sing glory.

Now on to read Scully's Origin. If it is half as good as this book, then it will be in good company.

As a huge X-Files fan, I enjoyed this origin story for Fox Mulder. The author knew the character well and portrayed him very accurately. She also did a great job tying in the story into the overall universe of the X-Files connecting events and characters that we learn much more about on the show. The mystery was the driving plot of the book and it progressed quickly

As much as I love the x-files and Fox Mulder, just wasn't a fan of this. There were some great moments in this book. But most are hidden by cring worthy moments. I wasn't a fan of how Mulder was with Phoebe. And also how there wasn't much of an ending for the characters. I mean of course we know what happens with Mulder as his story is continued on the tv show. But phoebe and grimes we don't know. Also we're left hanging about the case at hand.

But it was fun to read about character that we eventually see on the show.

The book was okay but I loved the X-Files tv show and this left me wanting. I’m not sure what it was that really missed the mark but something did.

I really enjoyed this book! Light and fun with a reasonable amount of suspense without being TOO predictable. Obviously I am a huge X-Files fan, but I think it was a cool idea to bring the series to a YA audience with these books. I liked the story and how it tied into Mulder and his search for his sister, a story arc in the show that broke my heart. While I've not read any of Garcia's other books, I think she has a simple writing style that flows well and is easy and engaging to read. She really understood the character of Mulder, which was great, and the little facts taken from the show like his red-green color blindness, him closing his eyes every time he opened his bedroom door, him always sleeping on the couch, etc.

The other characters were good. I didn't mind Gimble too much; to be honest, I would think Mulder to be more of a loner, but Gimble wasn't annoying or anything. I loved the DnD references, as a DnD player myself, haha. As for Phoebe, I actually did like her. Sometimes she gave off a "not like other girls" vibe at times, but not so much that it was unbearable. I think the name Phoebe was a confusing choice, because at the beginning I thought she was the Phoebe that went to Oxford with Mulder and showed up in one of the early episodes of the show. However, that's just my nit-picky self.

The ending, without giving too much away, was probably the most unsatisfying part. It left off...not on a cliffhanger, but it left you asking "but what happened after that?". I guess a lot of X-Files episodes ended like that, but to me the ending of this book just had too many loose ends.

Overall I'm really glad I picked this up, it was a quick and fun read to get me out of my slump and give me my X-Files fix. :) I can't wait to read Scully's next!

This was a quick fun read!! Perfect for any x files fans who wanted a little glimpse into Mulder as a teenager. It’s interesting to see young Mulder’s skepticism and how his worldview shifts as he starts to realize that not everything is as it seems.

Is the writing amazing? No. Is the little romance in it necessary? Not at all. Despite this I still really enjoyed the read and will be reading the one about Scully as well.
