A beautiful, quiet story, with beautiful, soft illustrations. I do wonder though, if kids will react the same as adults to this story. I will definitely be sharing it though.

Stead's detailed, evocative illustrations perfectly reflect the beauty of the text. "...for a letter can hold the treasure of a clam-hugged pearl."

A gentle book about loneliness. It made me sad, actually. I wonder how kids would feel about this story, and what ages would work best? Lovely illustrations, creative, and imaginative, three things I look for in a picture book. This one will definitely work for adults and older kids!

Another beautifully illustrated but heartbreakingly wistful children's book. The artwork is lovely but the loneliness is just too much for my taste. I would rather recommend Somebody Loves You, Mr Hatch to most kids.

A quiet book of hope and promise and cats and oceans. Beautiful illustrations.
