maybe not the best book to read straight out of a long term relationship but holy shit i absolutely consumed this. i embarrassingly could relate a lot to the protagonist's struggles with herself, her romantic relationships, and her relationships with her family. one of the few novels i've read that layers these experiences in a really artful way--not to excuse behavior but to provide context and understanding.

Spme very beautiful lines but I feel like I missed the point with this book. Maybe it was trying to normalize messiness and figuring things out? But I couldn't understand the main character's motivation a lot of the time. To me, a lot of this book felt like it was building up to something but it didn't actually reach a boiling point. But maybe this is just my whitewashed brain wanting all themes to be beaten over the head and loud. Idk, but I would read something else by this author. Maybe I'll get it when I'm older.

I loved the last pages / the theme of the morher daughter relationship- i just disliked the main character in a way that made this hard to read / unenjoyable

I'm not sure what the plot of this was. I thought it was going to be a self-discovery, coming of age, but nothing gets resolved. I enjoyed the small amount of culture clash that gets discussed but did not like the narrator, not sure if we were supposed to or not, and lost the plot.
