This just felt like a warm hug. I love how much backstory and depth the story gave Marilla - and, really, most of the Anne of Green Gables characters.

Green Gables has forever been one of my most comforting places to return to, so this was perfect for me.

I think the author did a great job of creating a backstory for a beloved character that was very much in keeping with the original stories, both in tone and actions. If you grew up with Anne of Green Gables, this is definitely worth a read!
