There are not many things that can touch me as the Poetry of Sarah.

This is the book that made me fall in love with poetry.

There are some beautiful poems in here, and the subject matter in these poems is very interesting and unlike anything I've read before. However, I got a bit bored by the large amount of love/heartbreak in here, and some of it was too much prose-like for my liking. I bet that the poems in this collection would work really well in a performance-setting, but as a work in and of itself it could be better.

I ended up borrowing this from my local library and half way through it went online and ordered it. Definitely a book I wanted in my collection. My favs were: Mrs. Robeiro, Montuak, Brother, Hands, The Shirt, Extended Development, Loose Threads, Private Parts and.. Do you get the point? It had to be ordered lol

I read this book in around three hours though I have to say I probably skipped 7. Sarah Kay was the person who introduce to my love of spoken word so she holds a special place in my heart so when I heard she had come out with a book I made it my mission to get it so I searched in every bookstore. Only to find it was not released in the UK. So eventually had to go to Amazon as it was the only English site that had it.

I loved all of these poems although my favourites are:

Postcard because it reminded me of Jem and Tessa from the Infernal device.

On the discomfort of being in the same room as the boy you like because it is really relatable and quite funny

The Type

This book was a gift I received for Christmas and I was sooo happy I did !

I already knew about Sarah Kay, I saw her videos on Youtube. My favorite poems being Postcards, B, Hiroshima and The Type, I was eager to discover her other work.
I was not disappointed at all ! I can now add The Toothbrush To The Bicycle Tire, Brother, Hands and Dragons to my favorites.

I'm glad I watched that TEDxTALK on Youtube all those months ago. Sarah Kay is such an amazing poet and inspiration.

I have loved Sarah Kay for years and I will love her for years to come

Sarah Kay could write poems about cereal and I'd devour them.

I stumbled upon her on YouTube years ago and she's gotten me through some shit ever since.
