I hate that while reading this, I felt so jaded. I kept thinking, “Things would never work out that well in real life.” I think that’s the whole point of this book, though. Queer folks live the struggle of not being accepted EVERY DAY. Why can’t we have stories that help us believe acceptance is possible? That we can live happily as our full, genuine selves without hiding? Books are an escape from the harshness of reality, and that’s what this story was for me. I adore British fiction, especially things similar to Pride and Prejudice. That setting and that specific group of characters combined with a beautiful story of queer love and acceptance made my heart SO happy. This story felt like a good mix of realism and hope, and of seriousness and fluff. I’m so glad this book exists.

Não gostei da personalidade do Oliver que só vê o lado dele, e nak parece interessado em ninguém, totalmente o contrário da personagem da Elizabeth, nem do Darcy que em vez de tímido e só bruto com mulheres.

VERY cute!! There was really good chemistry between Darcy and Oliver, so much so that even though their scenes were limited I was giddy every time they met up! Nothing super spectacular but very enjoyable during pride :’)

I listened to the entire 7 hour audiobook in one day because I just wanted to know what happened next after each chapter. Not that I didn't already see the story beats align, but that I really enjoyed the in betweens of those beats. It was fun to listen to the writing and see the two men in this fall for each other. I will say that I was more intrigued by the family dynamics than the romance. Not a bad thing at all and loyal to the source material. I just thought it was a nice personal change of pace.
