Shakespeare isn't my cup of tea. I definitely liked A Midsummer Night's Dream better than Romeo and Juliet.
I liked watching the movie better because it makes more sense when you see the script in action. It felt weird reading the script because that's not how you're supposed to experience Shakespeare. Other than that, the actual plot also wasn't something that I would read normally. It's iconic, I know, but honestly Romeo and Juliet are both idiots

love and death! sex and violence! what more do you need in a piece of literature?
fast-paced
The best Shakespeare class I ever took at OSU completely changed my perspective on this classic piece. Given the social-historical context of what was expected of teens let alone members of a family, these two non-heroic figures are served up as an example of how disobedience and impulsive actions break down society.
Not, not, not a tragic love story. Renamed: Just look at what those two idiot kids did to their families.

I'm done! I'm finally done. It took 3 hours and 7 peppermints, but I finished R&J without stabbing something.
It earns three stars for having some nice quotes and somehow managing to become a literary great, but I have deducted two for not being entertaining and having extremely irritating main characters.

i’m not the biggest fan of shakespeare’s writing, but i read this for class in freshman year of high school and did not dislike it. it’s fun and culturally iconic. i’ve only read romeo and juliet all the way through, and i’ve partially read hamlet and the tempest. i have a few other plays on my shelf so i plan to give shakespeare another chance eventually.
